We both live in the county outside of Winston-Salem and the trash service is weekly and about $13 a month. He won't drink it, but it may be because he hasn't had it tested. It kind of makes his toilet water reddish and he has to use a lot of filters. ![]() We don't have well water, but my dad also moved here from CA and he does. We moved here from SoCal 2 years ago and I was also nervous about having a septic for the first time! I haven't noticed anything different about it so far and we just make sure to not use harsh cleansers which isn't an issue because I only clean with natural products anyway. Hire a private trash pickup service that makes routes in your area, your neighbors would be a good source in who they use. Haul it to a local dump they do not charge for household trash just commercial. Water bills are relative cheap in this area if I could have county or city water that is route I would take. My husband and I are planning to move to the Winston-Salem area later this year, and many of the homes we have seen on the internet have well water and septic tanks.
